Junior choir performance at the Island Bay School Cultural Evening ~ Friday 19th September

Dear Junior Choir parents and caregivers,

The Junior Choir has been singing beautifully lately. After performing for the Island Bay kindy kids and in the school’s Wiki o te reo Māori celebration, we’re looking forward to performing for you and the school community on Friday 19th September at the Home & School’s Cultural Evening.

The evening runs from 5.30pm – 8.30pm. There will be more details about the food available and the rough schedule for the evening in next week’s newsletter. The key things to know are that there’ll be a break for dinner from 6.30pm – 7.00pm and then a DVD will be playing in K2 for kids to watch (if they want) while parents continue to watch the performances.

We will meet at 5.30pm in K2 (Noeline’s classroom), ready to perform at roughly 5.45pm. After our performance, parents and caregivers can pick up children from K2 at roughly 6.00pm (we’ll check them off from our list) and either head home or stay to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Please return the slip below to the school office to let us know if your child is able to perform.

We’re looking forward to a wonderful evening!

Nga mihi,
Jarryd Bradford and Amy Austin
Junior Choir teachers

Team

Wait 'til you're announced
We've not yet lost all our graces
The hounds will stay in chains
Look upon Your Greatness and she'll
send the call out
(Send the call out) [8x]

Call all the ladies out
They're in their finery
A hundred jewels on throats
A hundred jewels between teeth
Now bring my boys in
Their skin in craters like the moon
The moon we love like a brother,
while he glows through the room

Dancin' around the lies we tell
Dancin' around big eyes as well
Even the comatose they don't dance and tell

[Chorus:]
We live in cities you'll never see on screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Living in ruins
of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team

I'm kind of over getting told to throw my hands up in the air, so there

So all the cups got broke
shards beneath our feet
but it wasn't my fault
And everyone's competing
for a love they won't receive
'Cause what this palace wants is release

[Chorus:]
We live in cities you'll never see on screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Living in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team

I'm kind of over getting told to throw my hands up in the air
So there
I'm kinda older than I was
when I revelled without a care
So there

[Chorus:]
We live in cities you'll never see on screen
Not very pretty, but we sure know how to run things
Living in ruins of a palace within my dreams
And you know, we're on each other's team
We're on each other's team
And you know, we're on each other's team
We're on each other's team
And you know, and you know, and you know

Wade in the water ~ Sometimes I feel like a motherless child

There was an old witch

There was an old witch,
Believe it if you can,
She tapped on the window
And she ran, ran, ran.
She ran helter, skelter,
With her toes in the air,
cornstalks flying
From the old witch’s hair.

“Swish,” goes the broomstick,
“Meow,” goes the cat,
“Plop,” goes the hop-toad
Sitting on her hat.
“Wee,” chuckled I,
“What fun, fun, fun!”
Hallowe’en night

When the witches run.
